Quick Sticks
With two hours of practice a day, the Junior Varsity and Varsity Field Hockey teams worked hard to sharpen their skills on the field.  Whether it was practicing shooting, dribbling, or passing, the team dedicated much time to reach its fullese potential.

Coached by Caroline O’Keeffe, Alexi Singlin, and Joe Skinner, both teams shared in strong camaraderie and spirit.  “We really came together on game days.  We always wore our uniforms and ribbons,” commented Lisa Kinney.

Some of the most exciting games were played against local rival La Costa Canyon.  Unfortunately the second game ended in a tie.  “There was a lot of disappointment about the second game’s ending due to the injury delay and the darkness controversy.  We played a tough game, but it would have been nice to beat LCC,” stated Robyn Moy.

Captains, Lindsay Gary and List Kinney, led the team to the second round of CIF.  The entire team put up a valiant effort, but number one seeded San Pasqual proved too tough an opponent.

With skills sharpened and strong team unity, the both teams looked forward to another successful season.

The TPHS Field Hockey Archives were assembled in 2008 in an attempt to document the history of the Torrey Pines Field Hockey Program. Unfortunately we didn't have a team website prior to 2003 (with the exception of a student-created website of the 2000 season). The Archives were created by the efforts of Joe Yogerst, Kari DiGiulio, Analia Carlson and George Wiley. Former players, parents of players and coaches: to please send us whatever information that might have from the past that could help us fill in the missing years!
