Varsity Falcons played their last game of the 2005 season in the CIF Semifinals at Fallbrook this afternoon, November 17th. The Warriors took the lead with their lone goal in the first half amid a scramble in front of the goal. The Warriors will move on to the finals this Saturday in Falcon Stadium, meeting the number 2 seed, La Costa Canyon. Click here for the CIF SDS playoff bracket. This page doesn't always have the most current information, but it's interesting to see the entire bracket. Varsity Falcons shut out the Mira Mesa Marauders 2-0 in the CIF Quarterfinals this Tuesday afternoon, November 15th, in Falcon Stadium. The Falcons got off to a quick start with a goal by Megan on a corner putting Torrey Pines on the board quickly with a 1-0 lead. Griz scored the second goal for TPHS a little later in the first half. The Falcons now advance to the CIF Semifinals on Thursday, November 17th, at 3:00pm, meeting Fallbrook who is seeded number 1 in the Division I playoff bracket. Fallbrook narrowly beat Bonita Vista 1-0 on Tuesday to move on to the semifinals. Varsity had a great ending to the 2005 regular season with a 1-0 win over Poway in Titan Stadium on Wednesday, November 9th. The Falcons are seeded 4th in the CIF Playoffs, giving them a bye in the first round and home field advantage in the Quarterfinals to be played Tuesday, November 15th in Falcon Stadium. Varsity celebrated Senior Day, Wednesday, November2nd, in a pre-game cermeony honoring seniors Audrey, Kadie, and Kelli, preceding their last regular-season home game. Both teams were scoreless at the half, but the Mavericks managed to squeeze in a single goal in a game that was otherwise neck-and-neck in its entirety. JV played prior to Varsity this evening but finished 0-2, leaving victory to be claimed next season in the challenge between the two rival teams. Varsity shutout the Mt. Carmel Sundevils for the second time this month in Falcon Stadium. We don't yet have the official score, but have heard reports in the range of 7 to 10 goals for the Falcons. Following the Varsity game, the Freshmen Falcons shut out the Helix Highlanders 1-0. Taylor scored our game winning goal. Griz got 2 or 3 goals, Megan got one. We haven't received the JV results yet. Varsity Falcons trumped the Poway Titans in a 4-0 shutout Friday afternoon, October 21st, in Falcon Stadium. We heard that JV also won their game but don't have the exact score. Varsity shut out the Rancho Bernardo Broncos in Falcon Stadium about 8-0 on Wednesday, October 19th. We haven't received the exact score yet. Varsity outshined the Mt. Carmel Sundevils in Falcon Stadium with a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday, October 12th. Congratulations Varsity, JV and Freshmen Falcons. Friday was a great day for Falcon field hockey. Both Varsity and JV maintained our perfect record against the Westview Wolverines on Friday, October 7th. We don't have the exact scores yet, but both games were won by a good margin. While Varsity and JV were victorious as home, the Freshmen Falcons ventured to the grassy outback in Rancho Bernardo to shut out the JV Broncos 2-0. The freshmen played a great game, and having a 1-0 lead at halftime, they continued to drive ahead and scored a second goal and held the Broncos scoreless while playing in the uphill direction in the second half. Congratulations Varsity and JV Falcons. Varsity celebrated a victory in Falcon Stadium Wednesday, October 5th with a 4-1 win over the Vista Panthers. Goals were by Lauren on a stroke, Griz, and two others. The JV Falcons shut out the JV Panthers 3-0. Congratulations Freshman Falcons for their 2-1 victory over the Escondido High School JV team Thursday, September 29th, on the Cougars' home field. Congratulations to the JV Falcons who were finalists in the Serra JV Tournament Saturday, September 17th!!! Also, a big contratulations to Kendra Bills, Shanthi Devasirvatham and Bridget Griver from the JV team and Dorian O'Leary on the Freshman team who were named All Tournament Players!!! The JV Falcons were up against the LCC JV Mavericks in the championship game with a close 3-2 final score. The Freshman Falcons can also be proud of their participation in JV tournament, doing very well against some more experienced JV teams. Congratulations to the Varsity Falcons, for their 5-0 shut out against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns Friday afternoon, September 16th, in Falcon Stadium. Goals were by Griz (2), Sofia (2), and Tori! The Freshmen Falcons ended regulation play in a 2-2 tie against Scripps Ranch in their season opener in Falcon Stadium on Monday afternoon, September 12th. The Torrey Pines Falcons were down by one goal through most of the game, then Ashley Graver scored two goals in about the last 5 minutes to tie it up. Neither team scored in the first overtime, so the game went to sudden-death strokes. Even though the Freshmen TP Falcons narrowly missed capturing the win, they can certainly be proud of an impressive first game. The Varsity Falcons celebrated a 3-1 victory over Mira Mesa on Friday, September 9th, at the Marauder's home field. Freshmen team game schedule updated Monday, September 5th.
